School has STARTED!

We have been very busy this week.  We started school on Monday and have pretty much been on the go every since.

We also signed up with a charter school, South Sutter, this year.  We are very happy with our choice.  Once I look at all the vendors who provide a service, the kids will be able to take music lessons as well as a physical activity of their choice.  My days might just become non-existant in the near future.

In order to stay somewhat organized and have a clean house, we have made ourselves a chore chart...
so far, so good.  This is posted in the hall, so it's the very first thing you see as we all walk out of our bedrooms.

This is our timeline that we made for history this year.  The kids are having a blast coloring and adding new figures and pictures to it.  We are using Mystery of History this year.  We are starting off in Vol 1 -- Creation to the Resurrection.

I will be posting more this weekend, once I am able to breath and recap about this week.

Homeschool Fun

Last Tuesday, we spent some time with our home school group.  Hanging out at a local park playing games and geocaching.  After a little hunting, and trying to figure out the clues, one of the kids finally found the 'treasure'.  One clue was a smelly scent from a tree... which wasn't a nice scent as some found out.
Even though it is summer, and technically we aren't doing school, but I think the kids are excited about learning how to Geocaching (a great way to learn coordinates and navigation.)

School Name

This is something that we have never really done in the five years that we have been homeschooling.  I think that we need to, so that way the kids can feel like all the other kids.  In a sense, they feel lost because they can't tell someone where they go when asked.  Their only reply is "We are homeschooled".  I know that it's not a bad thing, but I want them to have a sense of belonging to something.

So, that brings up the thought of a name for our little one-room schoolhouse.  I am in need of some ideas, and the kids are having a hard time with it.  For now, the name of our school is 'Stamps Meadow Academy'
